Building Trust: Take the Time to Connect

Whenever we bring up our adventures with spiritual evolution, questions like, “How do you trust what you’re getting? How do you know that’s the direction to go? How do I learn how to do that–or can I even do that, too?”  pop up. 

We think that at its essence, the questions being asked are really, "How do I trust that connection to my inner voice and Spirit?” and “How do I trust I won’t mess it all up by making the wrong decision?"

Trust is huge when it comes to evolution and intuitive development. And we’re going to be honest, we still have moments where we wish we could trust a little more. The thing with trust is that it doesn’t happen overnight and it’s not usually something that is born of large actions or big gestures. Let’s look at the idea of building trust with ourselves, our intuition, our clairs, our evolution—whatever it is we're having a hard time trusting.

Trusting your personal XYZ comes down to a few things:

• Giving yourself time and grace to build that trust and knowing it won't happen overnight
• Making space to slow down and be aware of what is happening right now in this moment
• Taking small actions on most days to continually work on building  trust

Trust can’t be rushed. You don’t meet someone new and think immediately, “Oh, I trust them 100%.” You take your time, observe what they say, how they act, what actions they do or don’t take. You get to know them. 

You also make time to connect with them. Maybe you go out for dinner together or a concert. You call and communicate with them throughout the week. You invest time in nurturing that relationship. And as time goes on, you feel like you know them well enough that you can rely on them to be there for you. Eventually, you trust them.

It’s the same with our connection to Spirit and our inner voice. You have to build a relationship over time, investing in it frequently, so that when the evolution or the challenges arrive at your door, you already trust that connection. You don’t want to wait until you need that connection to learn how it works. You want to play with it before so you have the confidence in yourself and spirit and trust that what you’re getting is for your highest and best.

What would a "real world" application of this look like? It will vary for everyone. For us, it would be an adjusting of our expectations of where we think we "should" be with our XYZ (clairs, intuition, etc). and embrace where we are. Then, we’d create an intention for that. Rather than saying, "We want to develop all our clairs",  we’d start with, "We want to understand what clairs we’re currently using and how."  Instead of, “I want to completely transform my life on all levels”, we might say, “We want to understand what these areas of our lives look like right now and does that match our intention for them?” 

Do you see how that shifts the perspective around it? It opens it up for something that is much easier to take action on right now in the present moment.

Building trust with yourself, your spiritual journey, and your intuitive skills isn't something that happens overnight. It takes clear intentions, time, and work.
